David (Dave) John SEXTON

Although Dave turned out for five clubs over an eleven year period taking in almost 200 League games along the way his playing career pales into insignificance compared to his coaching and managerial career afterwards.
Dave’s playing career started at Newmarket Town before he was snapped up by Luton from Chelmsford in June 1951. After only nine first team starts in two years the bustling inside-forward moved to West Ham before eventually hanging up his boots while at Crystal Palace in 1962.
It was as a coach and manager that Dave came to the fore, though, leading Chelsea and Manchester United, amongst others, to glory before he became part of the England set-up in 1983 and was last assisting Sven-Goran Eriksson as a scout.
Dave sadly passed away in 2012.
