John MOORE

After joining Luton from Motherwell in 1965, on the recommendation of scout and ex-Hatter Davie Hutchinson, John enjoyed almost 40 years at Kenilworth Road in a long, varied and loyal career.
As a tough, no nonsense defender John made 273 League appearances for the Hatters and after spells at Brighton and as manager of Dunstable Town he returned to Kenilworth Road as a coach under David Pleat before stepping up into the hot seat in 1986 and leading the club to its highest ever position of seventh in the top flight in 1986/87.
Not relishing the high profile life of a football manager, John resigned in 1987 but was back at the club as a coach under Jim Ryan four years later.
Serving under several managers, John remained at the club until his 60th birthday before becoming involved in schools coaching in Bedford.
