RW Frith

Robert Frith

Robert William FRITH

Born in Hassop, Derbyshire in 1892, Robert played for both Sheffield United and Derby without being able to secure a regular first team spot, coming to Luton on a recommendation in July 1913.
A big centre-half, who had the necessary ability to move forward with the ball he was not an immediate success but the Town persevered and by the end of the 1913-14 season he was a mainstay in the promotion winning side.
He took the step up to Southern League Division One in his stride and was virtually ever present in 1914-15 before the War brought his Luton career to an end.
He guested for South Shields during the War and remained with them in peacetime before moving to Rotherham County and finishing his career at Rochdale.
Robert passed away in 1939.
